How to Reset the Oil Life Light on a Honda
The reset works much the same across Accord, Civic and CR-V years — with three interface variations. Change the oil first.
Honda's system shows remaining Engine Oil Life as a percentage with a wrench icon rather than a mileage counter. When it reaches a low percentage (or 'A'/'B' service codes appear), an oil change and related service are due. Always change the oil and filter before resetting — resetting without doing the service leaves the system tracking the wrong condition and can lead to running the oil far too long.
Method 1 — Select/Reset button (2008-2017 and many later models): turn the ignition to ON without starting, press the Select/Reset button repeatedly until 'Engine Oil Life' shows, hold it about 10 seconds until the percentage blinks, then hold again until it returns to 100%.
Method 2 — steering-wheel controls with the multi-information display (2018+ Accord, Civic, CR-V): press the menu/info button, scroll to Vehicle Information or Maintenance, select Engine Oil Life, and hold Enter until the reset prompt appears; choose the item and confirm.
Method 3 — touchscreen (models with the center touchscreen): from Home open Settings, then Vehicle, then Maintenance Info / Maintenance Reset, select Engine Oil or All Due Items, and confirm. If the wrench light stays on afterward, you likely didn't hold the button long enough — repeat the reset.
