When should you change your engine coolant?

Long-life coolant often lasts 100,000–150,000 miles or roughly 10 years on the first change, then shorter intervals after — but it varies a lot by the type of coolant and the engine. Check your model below.

Why it matters: Old coolant loses its corrosion inhibitors and freeze/boil protection, leading to overheating and to corrosion of the radiator, water pump and heater core.
